RUFFFAAALLLSS!!

This outfit is from like, a month ago at my friend's cooking party. I don't understand the cheese with the fruit in it. It sounds delicious and classy, but it's really not. It tastes like nausea.
ANYWAYS; the outfit. This is my favourite shirt. It's ruffffffly :) And i got the jeans for FIVE BUCKS so i'm pretty proud. And the cardi is straight outta the kids section at H&M.

New Haircut!

Ya it's not that different, don't freak out. It was getting pretty straggly before so I got it cut. Except my hairdresser kinda sorta chopped about four inches off. Anyways I don't mind it. TALLY HO!

to achieve this look i used: a tiny amount of everything that really did nothing in the end.

A penny for your thoughts but a dollar for your insights

A penny for your thoughts but a dollar for your insights
Hey kids,
I went shopping yesterday with C and stumbled upon Maybelline XXL Curl Power and XXL Volume+Length mascara. You know, the one with the white end and the black one? Well they were two for one ($7 per pack of two), so we bought both and split them up. I don't usually wear mascara (on account of my lucky long black lashes) but I thought I'd try it out. I would have put pictures up but my other camera works like shit. There was no focus whatsoever so I didn't bother. Anyways here's my review.

Curl Power: It had a funny shaped brush and really didn't apply at all. I had to use the end of the brush to actually get it on my
lashes, so it just defeated the purpose of the curved brush.
V+L: Again, it didn't apply well. It just clumped and went all spidery.
Verdict: This mascara is messy, hard to apply and makes your lashes thick and clumpy. The only good thing is that it doesn't flake. I wouldn't buy this again.

(P.S. It doesn't look like that. At all)

(Maybelline, $10 each)

Snowy days+hot drinks

It's quite cold and snowy where I live and my usual tea just wouldn't cut it; I wanted a cafe mocha. But I'm not driving around looking for a starbucks, so I made my own :)
Here's my recipe:
+one pouch of regular hot cocoa mix
+one-three tablespoons instant coffee mix
+one candy cane, a few mint candies or a few drops of mint extract
+one cup hot water
Boil water. Combine hot cocoa and coffee in mug. Add water. Use candy cane as stir stick or add mints/extract. Or, use orange candies/extract instead of mint.
Enjoy!

And just in case you were still a little chilly, here's a little something that might warm up the room.

I'm gettin drunk all night, ooh I'm gettin drunk all day

Trashy song, no?
Haha it's catchy.

Saturday was T's birthday so all the girls went for dinner Friday night. Some of the ladies and gents went back to her house after. Saturday the gals met at Char's and we went out for Chinese and hit up this slick little coffee shop. And then of course us damn Canadians went to watch the boys' hockey games.
For security reasons, I hid my slick chicks' faces with dinos.

ALSO:
Congrats to Barack Obama (yes I know he doesn't read my blog). I think he'll bring great things to the world. Besides, America needed a change, and they got it. Unfortunately, Canada didn't.

OUTFIT: We went straight from T's to Char's and I only had my clothes from the party so I had to borrow Char's tee, cardi and specs.

YESH, that is an authentic tee, staight outta NYC.

Seven random facts, eh?
Oh dear.

i. i made a sock monkey yesterday. it has a hideous stitch across it's crotch.
ii. i'm the current world champion of screnga. it's like jenga but you use scrabble letters instead.
iii. my internet browser has spellcheck. apparently spellcheck isn't a word...
iv. i love fall out boy because i can relate to their lyrics; i'm pathetic, single and i like to wrap things around my throat. whoa-oh.
v. i could be a model. not because i'm a looker, but for my ability to retain alcohol and drugs and still walk in a straight line with sky-high heels on.
vi. last year i dressed up in a full spiderman costume for my geography exam and nobody noticed anything different.
vii. i'm not allowed in the drama room alone because i always try to steal their cool vintage clothes.

well that's me in an eggshell (i'm allergic to nuts!).
hmm.. well i'm not quite sure who to tag so if you read this, YOU ARE TAGGED! no buts, you're tagged. comment and say i've tagged you. :) have fun

sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien ensemble.
Ooh la la! Today I was in a french mood, and dressed accordingly, n'est pas? Oui! Well it snowed for the first time, but just a bit. Une petite neige, vous pourriez dire. Har har, excuse my french, I'm a bit rusty!
Some would say it's too chilly for tights, me being one of them. I wore them anyways; it's only going to get colder.

Updates and Play Dates!

Yesh, I updated. I know that no one really reads this blog but I think I should just note that. I really did hate that old mess of a layout. It's still pretty plain but it'll be better. Soon. Probably. Maybe.
_____________

Yesterday I finally got off my ass and some of the girlies got together. Me and Charlotte (she has Polyvore, visit her!) staggered around town for a while. We landed in this rad little thrift store and I snagged the cutest little orange belt and a slick periwinkle/white railroad striped oxford shirt. We literally wandered around for hours in my teeny weeny town. We got some Chinese food and played at every park we could find. Real fun. We met Kelsey, Renee and Chantelle and chilled around telli's house. We walked her rat-dog and it's gonna be a show dog. MEOW. Peace out.

So I just got back from musical practice and I'm super excited because the first show is tomorrow! I'm pretty mad at myself because I'm not actually in it, but don't worry, I will be next time. And I'm trying out for the community theatre productions. I'm doing make-up this year, which is mega rad!

Mmmmenswear

I've never really taken an interest in menswear... until now. It's not just the male models (who are gorgeous, may i add) but the designs too. I never really thought there was much versatility in menswear, nothing that could be as exceptionally creative and unique as womens wear. I was completely wrong! I love menswear, and I love to add some pieces to a feminine outfit for women. So here's my take on some of my favourite Fall 2008 Menswear collections.

Etro
I really do love this. It's so quirky and retro! The exquisite plaids are perfect for fall. I'm really digging the patterned pants and bow ties. It's such a fun colour palette too! The bright yellow and the maroon velvet blazers are to die for.

Alexander McQueen
This is probably one of my favourite looks: the foreign sophisticate. Perfect suits are paired with classy cardigans, (dare I say) snazzy boots and casual shoulder bags. The Mexican-inspired ponchos and hats are the spice of the collection! Exotic prints and gorgeous furs make me want to jump right on the runway!

Roberto Cavalli
Updated classics make me want to empty my bank account. I can almost feel the refined textures of furs, velvets and leathers right now. Again, the gorgeous leopard prints would look exquisite on any fashionable man. I still can't get over the great velvet midnight blue suit.

Dsquared
How slick! Dress a man in this and I'm there! I'm not too fond of the camo pieces, but the rest is brill. Neon colours and fab bleaches are perfect for fall. A perfect combination of masculine leathers, vintage denims and rad wools. The crisp patterns are great.

OH SHIT! Trashy Girls.

Is it just me, or are clothes becoming more and more trashy these days? I don't mean wear a boy-neck, floor length, long-sleeve dress, but come on! Honestly, there used to be a lot of cute stuff out there from cute stores, but now it's all see-through tops and track pants. It's stuff that I'd work out in, not wear to a dance.
And people pay waaaay too much money for things like fleece shorts, big, ugly hoodies and slinky track shorts! And they're promoting this slobbiness!
Have some decency, have some fashion sense.

That's just my opinion.
Peace aut,
Dani

I'm like a critic.

So last night I was watching Fashion Television, and I didn't really notice until after it was over that I had been scribbling down notes. I've decided to share my opinions on a few of the designers Spring and Fall 2008 collections.

RODARTE
I am ashamed to say that I have never really taken an interest in Rodarte until now. Kate and Laura Mulleavy are the sisters behind it all. They have no formal training but they can still create such wonderful, though-provoking looks. It's women like them that give us all hope.
Their Fall 2008 collection was fabulous. Deemed "Punk Rock Ballerina", the style was theatrically loose, yet the structure and detail was outstanding. Their designs are extremely inspired, which makes them even more desired. Fans include Agyness Deyn, Keira Knightly and Natalie Portman.

MICHAEL KORS
Mr. Kors is a busy man; designer and judge on the fabulous show Project Runway. Where does he find time to make such gorgeous collections? His Spring 2008 collection is more prefect than spring itself! Gorgeous pastels, hot solids, bold patterns and ditsy florals combined together are to die for this season. Subtle yet exciting accessories tie it all together; metallic skinny belts, floppy sunhats and "tennis" totes are definitely a must! This country-club collection is the base of my spring attire!

DIOR
The eccentric style of Dior can never be forgotten, and the Spring 2008 collection is proof of that. All I can say is detail. Their bright, voluptuous pieces made me shiver with a lust that I have never felt towards Dior before. The outstanding hats earrings and makeup was enough for me to want to blow away my entire life savings on those delectable creations. Dior is ingenious, for lack of a better word.

PUCCI
Pucci is a whole different classification of it's own. Those boho inspired tunics and architectural prints are enough to make a woman mad. Gorgeous colour combinations of shimmery metallics, bold hues and heavenly pastels create an insane look for spring. Geometric print bags and bangles deserving of the heavyweight belt complete the look.

MARC JACOBS
What can I say other than love. Marc always was and continues to be one of my favourite designers. Aside from the fact that he is fabulously gorgeous, his creations are genius. His Spring 2008 collection is fun, quirky and professional. The playful, lollipop pieces immediately draw attention and keep it! There's not much I can say other than Marc is fashion.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG
Tribal prints and safari colours give DVF's Spring 2008 Collection an exotic flair to a chic wardrobe. Bold and bright pieces give a fun feel to an already wonderful line.

LAUREN CONRAD
Wow, a one hit wonder celebrity making a clothing line. Little to my surprise, it wasn't the next Lanvin or Chloe, though it wasn't complete crap. To me, it screamed Forever21. It was mediocre. They're nice looks for spring if you're a teenager in need of cute spring threads for school.

So that's my take on some of the new collections from a few designers.

TTFN,
Dani

Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner

Oh dear, oh me.
How I love Dirty Dancing.

I saw it on stage on Wednesday. It was FAB. Me and my lover had front row seats; I was practically laying on Johnny. I would definitely give it five stars. I highly recommend it; EVERYONE should experience this!

I just wanted to say to anyone who will ever read my blogs, thank you so much!
